Let Freedom Ring in the Home - Hire a Senior In Home Caregiver

Today is a time to commemorate the day that our nation's founding fathers fought for the independence of our country. While most people celebrate this day with the classic American BBQ amidst a night of blazing fireworks, there are some families in Garden Grove who have taken deeply into consideration what independence and freedom can mean to others. To our children, this usually just means the freedom to enjoy themselves as they please without facing consequences of a lecture. For elderly seniors, on the other hand, independence can mean the freedom to live peacefully and abide by their own schedules, all without the fear of being left alone.

In honor of this Independence Day, A-1 Home Care is offering a senior home health program for senior residents in Garden Grove. Under this program, elderly seniors can be fitted with a professional and compassionate caregiver that will enable elderly seniors to live as freely as they enjoy in their own homes. From temporary to 24 Hours and Overnight Care, our senior home health aides are more than qualified to serve you. Trained with 2 years of previous caregiving experience, our senior caregivers can administer Alzheimer's & Dementia Care, Incontinence Care, Companion Care and Parkinson's Care.

Downey Care Center art activity

Books are time honored and long beloved forms of entertainment. There's nothing more comfortable and familiar then grabbing a hot mug of cocoa and curling next to a good book. A-1 Home Care remembers fondly what memories have been had with the illustrated stories of the past, and have created an arts activity suited to seniors with limited mobility.

A-1 Home Care will be hosting a half yearly art series held every other month. This week, we chose to create lovely tasseled bookmarks with the seniors at Downey Care Center.

Fun activities for seniors with Alzheimer/ A-1 Home Care in Garden Grove

Many times, loved ones are unsure how to interact with family members who have Dementia

Since primary memory is deteriorating, instinctive activities fare better. Activities that center on the five senses are very important. Elder loved ones might not remember how to bake their famous cookies, but when presented with a lump of dough, it might be surprising at how quickly they start rolling it out, just like they used to. Muscles tend to remember things the mind has forgotten.

We encourage our caregivers at A-1 Home Care to take time to learn about their elderly patients before their illness, and the hobbies the engaged in. Oftentimes, such hobbies are ingrained in muscle memory, and do a lot to stir up positive feelings. For example, we've witnessed many elders simling from old songs they loved playing on the radio.
